With elections close, this is the right time for the film to release says Anupam Kher.

Anupam Kher who is gearing up for the release of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ said, with elections going on this is the right time for the film to release.

Anupam Kher interacted with media along with the producer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, Jayantilal Gada on Friday in Mumbai.

The film Accidental Prime Minister is based on the memoir of the same name by Sanjaya Baru which was published in 2014 the year of elections and now the film is releasing in the next election term.

When asked for choosing the time for the film’s release, Kher said, “Why not. When we can release patriotic films, during the Republic and Independence day, when holiday movies and Christmas movies release during the holiday season they why can’t we release a political based film during the time of elections. I rather think this is the perfect time for the film’s release.”

The Veteran actor held a press conference in response to the warning issued by Maharashtra’s Youth Congress wing to the makers of The Accidental Prime Minister. The Youth Congress party wants the makers to arrange for a special screening and wish only post their factual corrections, the film should be released.

Talking about the film being based on facts or fantasy, Anupam Kher said the film is based on the book written by Mr. Sanjay Baru and, “he was appointed by PMO as a media advisor to Prime Minister. He has written his book on the basis of what he saw in Dr. Manmohan Singh tenure as a Prime Minister.

I feel they (Congress) they should have objected the book when it released but cinema has larger reach so, that’s is the problem with them.”

The Accidental Prime Minister’ is a biographical political drama film, presented by Rudra Production (UK), Bohra Bros in association with Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen India Limited). It is directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and written by Mayank Tewari.

Apart from Anupam Kher as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna features as Baru, and Divya Seth Shah as Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur.

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ will hit cinemas on 11 January 2019.
