Anupam Kher who is gearing up for the release of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ said, is he is to hold a screening for anyone it would be only Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Anupam Kher interacted with media along with the producer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, Jayantilal Gada on Friday in Mumbai. The Veteran actor held a press conference in response to the warning issued by Maharashtra’s Youth Congress wing to the makers of The Accidental Prime Minister.
The party wants the makers to arrange for a special screening and wish only post their factual corrections, the film should be released.
When asked if the makers are willing to hold the demanded screening Anupam Kher said, “Why should we have to hold a screening for them what is the use of censor board otherwise. The only person I am ready to have a screening for, not to sort or asking whether it is right or not, is Dr. Manmohan Singh because I think he should watch the film.”
Congress party after the recent State Assembly elections won in Madhya Pradesh and has denied any ban on the film in the state.
When asked to comment on this positive response from the political party, Kher said, “I think it is great news, if Congress party is saying that they do not oppose the film. Rather I think they should encourage it, Dr. Manmohan Singh was in the Prime Minister of Congress party but Prime Minister of the whole country.
Everybody should encourage people to watch the film. I’ve been reading comments and tweets that it is a fake story and a fake movie I think we should not respond to that.”
Anupam Kher also said they do not wish for people to stop talking, but will patiently wait for the film’s release.
He added, “You can’t stop everyone from speaking, today everyone is a critic and everyone is a reporter everyone with a phone has an opinion. But the fact is that the response to the trailer has been phenomenal. The people have loved the trailer, and people should applaud the film, the performances and the hard work of so many people.”
The Accidental Prime Minister’ is a biographical political drama film, presented by Rudra Production (UK), Bohra Bros in association with Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen India Limited). It is directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and written by Mayank Tewari.
The film is based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by Sanjaya Baru. Apart from Anupam Kher as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna features as Baru, and Divya Seth Shah as Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur.
‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ will hit cinemas on 11 January 2019.
