Managed by the Taj Group of Hotels, it is situated on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur. It consists of 347 rooms and is the principal residence of the former Jodhpur royal family. It also holds the title for sixth largest private residence in the world. Umaid Bhawan dons 26 acres of land, including 15 acres of gardens, a throne chamber, a private meeting hall, a Durbar Hall to meet the public, a vaulted banquet hall, private dining halls, a ball room, a library, an indoor swimming pool and spa, a billiards room, four tennis courts, two marble squash courts, and long passages.

The hotel offers three options to dine. These include Risala which offers royal ambience with Indian cuisine, an open air café called Pillar which hosts multi-cuisine and the Trophy Bar with delectable cocktails and Cuban cigars.

Things to do at Umaid Bhawan:

When at the magnum opus of Jodhpur, you can dive into one of a kind experiences. For architecture and history lovers, the palace houses timeless beauties such as the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, and the Jaswant Thada- the pretty domes shelter tombs and portraits, and even a memorial to a peacock that reputedly flew into the Maharaja’s funeral pyre.
